Dear Parents and Friends of Austin High Global Studies,
We are excited to announce the launch of the AGS Opportunity Fund.

Dear Parents and Friends of Austin High Academy for Global Studies,

We are excited to announce the 2024-25 launch of the AGS Opportunity Fund (formerly known as “Community Partners”) Capital Campaign. Over the past eight years this capital campaign has provided an opportunity for individuals and local businesses to support the Academy for Global Studies (AGS) program by providing funds for travel scholarships for our curriculum-based learning expeditions. We are thrilled to continue to offer travel opportunities to the students in the AGS program. This year, we are continuing to blaze ahead with organizing travel and other educational experiences, and teachers are hard at work planning the traditional AGS trips.

The current AGS Freshmen will be participating in AGS’ signature “Camp Global” experience at Camp Allen in Navasota, Texas for the second year in a row. Students will attend this overnight simulation experience in December using curriculum from Heifer International to learn about global hunger and poverty issues. This program will cost approximately $650 per student who attends. Scholarships for Camp Global have already been awarded in an amount totaling over $6500.

The current AGS Sophomores will travel to Costa Rica from February 2nd through 8th. The approximate cost of this trip per student is $2275. Scholarship applications were received and evaluated in September.

The 2025 AGS Seniors will be traveling to Thailand in January. Due to the date of this trip and the fact that our Seniors registered for this trip in the spring of 2024, scholarships were awarded and pre-paid in the summer of 2024. Therefore the 2024-2025 Opportunity Fund will raise money to fund scholarships for 2026 AGS Seniors (which are granted in 2024-2025). The expected cost of this trip per student is approximately $4500.

We need your help in supporting the students this year! Last year, with your incredible generosity, we were able to raise more than $56,000 for scholarships to ensure that all AGS students could take part in the incredible AGS travel curriculum. We anticipate AGS awarding approximately $76,625 in scholarships for travel experiences during the 2024-2025 school year. With your generosity, we will be able to support the AGS students by funding these scholarships. Much like how AGS reaches beyond the Austin High community to spread global awareness, we are reaching out to individual and corporate sponsors like you to help us ensure equal opportunity for all of our students and to further support our motto: "We ALL travel or we don’t travel at all!”

Will you help us reach our goal by making your tax-deductible donation beginning today through December 31, 2024?

Thank you for your support!
